IBS Nausea - The Simple Way To Getting Rid Of Irritable Bowel Syndrome Nausea.

Monday, September 28th, 2009

What if you could eliminate the painful and uncomfortable feeling of nausea that comes with irritable bowel syndrome? How differently would you live from day to day knowing that you never have to deal with the IBS again? This article will reveal some simple strategies that will make living IBS free a reality.

The truth is finding the exact cause of nausea in IBS sufferers can be a very difficult task because each person seems to have his or her own individual triggers. The result is that what triggers the nausea in person A is not likely to be what triggers the symptom in person B.

It is therefore very important that if you suffer from irritable bowel syndrome that you know the foods that trigger your symptoms. One of the best ways to achieve this is to keep a food diary.

You simply note down everything you eat on a daily basis for about two to four weeks and also note what symptoms you get and when you get them.

But what is IBS? It is as a functional disorder of the digestive system. This means that the digestive system of the sufferer is not functioning normally as it should but there are no identifiable physical causes or reasons to explain why.

So if you were to take a peek inside the digestive system of a sufferer it would look perfectly normal.

Apart from IBS nausea, other common symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome include bloating, flatulence, constipation or/and diarrhea, abdominal pain and spastic contractions of the colon.

We discussed earlier it was important for you to know what your triggers are because prescription drugs such as anticholinergics only mask the symptoms of the ailment, once you stop taking the drugs, the symptoms return and usually with a vengeance.

The second thing you can do to eliminate your IBS Nausea is to use pure peppermint oil. Peppermint is known to have anti-spasmodic action and analgesic (pain-killing) properties to help soothe your digestive tract, ease any tightness relieve abdominal pain, and stop you from feeling nauseous.

Protecting Your Children

Monday, September 14th, 2009

The growing awareness of safe driving and state safety laws have alerted the general public and parents to the importance of using car seats for their small children whenever and wherever they are driving. Most states require the use of car seats for children under the age of 4 and weighing less than 40 pounds. However, these safety rules aimed at protecting children may cause serious neck and spinal injuries and can even be deadly if the child car seats are used incorrectly.

The American Chiropractic Association, its Council on Occupational Health and ACA member Dr. Michael Freeman, trauma epidemiologist and clinical assistant professor of public health and preventive medicine at the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine, have developed the following general guidelines and safety tips to ensure proper car seat safety.

Make sure the child safety seat is appropriate for the age and size of the child. A newborn infant requires a different seat than a 3-year-old toddler. Car seats for infants should always be rear facing as the forces and impact of a crash will be spread more evenly along the back and shoulders, providing more protection for the neck. Car seats should always be placed in the back seat of the car-ideally in the center. This is especially important in cars equipped with air bags. If an air bag becomes deployed, the force could seriously injure or kill a child or infant placed in the front seat. Make sure the car seat is properly secured to the seat of the vehicle and is placed at a 45-degree angle to support the head of the infant or child. The lap harness should be fastened low, as close to the hips as possible, The harness should never be fastened around the waist. Make certain the shoulder harness is fastened securely and the straps lay flat against the body. Twisted straps can cause additional injury that might prevent the seat from working properly. Use a retention clip (if provided by the manufacturer) when securing a child safety seat with the shoulder harness. The retention or shoulder harness clip is an added safety feature and must be fastened close to the armpit of the infant or child. Borrowing or purchasing a used car seat can be dangerous; there is the possibility of unknown or undetected damage. Car seats that have been in a serious accident should never be used again. Be sure the seat meets federal motor vehicle safety seat standards. Consult the owner’s manual or contact the manufacturer for that information. All car seats should have an owner’s manual and instruction booklet. Be sure the clip between the legs of the child is fastened snugly. While car accidents can be dangerous for all passengers, small children are especially at risk, according to Dr. Scott Bautch, past president of ACA’s Council on Occupational Health. “The weight of the head of a child makes the cervical spine much more vulnerable to injury,” Dr. Bautch explained. “The infant has little control in the muscles of the neck, and the head can bounce from side to side and fall forward, which can cause serious spine and neck injuries. Children have more flexible upper bodies and shoulders. Make sure the harness comes up, way up, over the shoulders.”

Underscoring the importance of proper car seat use, a recent article in Nation’s Health reported the findings of a study conducted in Kentucky by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The study found a 37% drop in infant fatalities since the 1982 enactment of the state law mandating the use of child car seats. “To continue this decline, prevention efforts now must focus on the proper use of the seats to maximize their life-saving potential,” the researchers said.

The key when traveling with small children is to be aware of and follow these rules and tips to ensure proper car seat safety. And remember everyone: Buckle up!

If you or one of your children have been involved in a serious automobile accident and have experienced neck and back discomfort, you should consider a visit to a chiropractor.

Side Step Nutrition Scams and Frauds; Eat Broccoli

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

People are saying that food scams are important to watch out for and fraud could also exist on food labeling. I, Isaac Toussie, pardon the thought, think that in these times when so many people are concerned about matters like housing and work place discrimination, fashion, entertainment, real estate, mortgages, vacations and so forth, things like food quality and food awareness may become inadvertently sidestepped. I, Isaac Toussie, feel that Broccoli is a great nutritional resource.

Broccoli is a cruciferous plant that originally came from southern Europe, in the regions by the Mediterranean Sea. Broccoli goes all the way back to ancient Rome, where it was developed from wild broccoli that looked like collard greens, and its name comes from the Latin word brachium for branch. It is one of the most popular vegetables ever, and forms a regular part of most healthy diets around the world, especially in the United States. It is often called a super-food because scientific research continues to uncover one nutritional benefit after another. To begin with, broccoli contains one of the highest concentrations of health promoting sulfur compounds like sulforaphane and isothiocyanates, which increase the livers power to make enzymes that neutralize potentially toxic substances in our bodies. Broccoli is also rich in the powerful phytonutrient antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, which are carotenoids found in the lens of our eyes in high concentrations. Furthermore, broccoli provides Vitamins A and C along with folic acid for a healthy heart. Broccoli that is dark green contains more chlorophyll, beta-carotene, and Vitamin C, while more purplish heads contain more flavanoids.

Being from the cruciferous family places broccoli among the ranks of cauliflower, kale, collard greens, cabbages, mustard greens, and Brussels Sprouts. Some varieties of broccoli are green broccoli, broccolini, broccoflower, broccoli raab, and broccoli sprouts.

Green broccoli, my (Isaac Toussie) personal favorite, sometimes called sprouting broccoli but also known as Italian Green or Calabrese Broccoli, is the most popular kind of broccoli, and the most commonly found in supermarkets today. Its named after the famous geographical area of Italy where its reputed to have been first grown. It has light green stalks topped with clusters of dark green, often purplish florets. Broccolini is, as its Italian diminutive would suggest, baby broccoli, but its actually a cross between green broccoli and kale. This is the best kind of broccoli to serve raw. Broccoflower is a cross between broccoli and cauliflower, and more like cauliflower than broccoli. Broccoli raab is intensely flavorful, with a pleasant slightly bitter taste. It has more leaves and a longer stem than common green broccoli, and though its stem is tender enough and needs no peeling, the bottom last inch or two should be discarded as it is wood-like and tough. Broccoli raab is otherwise similar enough to regular broccoli to serve as a substitute for the latter in most recipes. Finally, broccoli sprouts are just sprouts from broccoli seeds, and have become popular for their high concentrations of healthy phytonutrients.

The Expanding Career Field of Personal Training

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

The field of personal training is expanding at about the same rate as American waistlines. Obesity is a serious and growing problem among average Americans. As medical research links more health risks, like heart disease, hypertension and stroke to even moderate obesity, more Americans are trying to improve their health by getting fit. Some companies have even opened employee fitness centers in an effort to improve their employees’ health and reduce the cost of health insurance.

As a certified personal trainer, you will have many opportunities for jobs in your field. You can chose to work as an entrepreneur, or you can can chose to work for a spa, gym or corporate fitness center. Trainers work not only to improve the client’s level of fitness, but to improve their diet and health habits.

Personal trainers need to be competent in several areas in order to properly serve their clients. The first area is nutrition. One reason for the epidemic of obesity is the poor diet than many Americans chose to eat. High fat foods and refined sugars add unnecessary calories without providing nutrition. The personal trainer works with his clients to encourage a healthy diet with less fat and sugar and better nutrition, not just for weight loss, but for overall health.

In designing fitness plans, the trainer has to be aware of limitations that such health conditions can place on their client’s plan. It may be necessary to speak with the client’s physician before designing their plan.

The final area is the one that most people think of first, exercise. Each client has different physical abilities, limitations and goals. Exercise programs need to take into account the needs and limitations of the client. The personal trainer must be familiar with both aerobic and strength training exercises and design a realistic and balanced program for each client.

Setting up proper exercise programs is central to the job of personal fitness training. The trainer must consider the individual clients fitness level, general health and age and set up a program that meets all the client’s needs. The trainer must be well versed in both aerobic and strength training exercise and equipment, since a balanced approach to exercise contains elements of both.

Training to become a certified personal trainer can be done in a number of ways. You can chose a college program at either the associates or bachelors level (2 or 4 year), or you can enter a training program to earn the necessary credits to become certified. This is a rewarding career choice both from the standpoint of salary and from the satisfaction of helping people improve their health and their lives. You can chose to be a private trainer or work in the fitness industry.

If this sounds like the job you’re looking for , you should look in the training programs available and decide the best method to obtain your certification. For those planning on operating as a private business, you should also look into basic business courses to give you the skills you will need to insure your success.

2 Natural Cures For Diabetes - So Straightforward A Caveman Can Do It

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

As you sit at this time in a world of despair, reading, researching, contemplating, and day-dreaming that you can spend the remainder of your life with no diabetes; you are hopeful that for just one second the answer to your prayers could be found in a single article, in just one sentence, without the confusion of overwhelming information.

Paralysis by analysis as they say.

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away, here was a man who had been diagnosed with an not curable disease: Diabetes. It wasn’t before his 25th birthday when he started his new life as a prisoner of his own body, always having to babysit his blood sugar, blood pressure, inject himself with insulin, and sacrifice his utmost weakness: Food.

The doctors had insisted that there was nothing he can do, there was no cure for diabetes, and that he ought to remain dependent upon the drugs in which he must purchase. All over the country he searched for a second, third, fourth, fifth opinion - only for his greatest hopes to become a distant memory into the back of his head, and to be lost forever into the newly developed void in his heart.

He researched day and night, night and day. His passion was that of a lion, and his mind was that of a scholar.

At that moment it finally hit him, something to simple, so divine, that could cure his diabetes for good without the aid of foreign substances, naturally. After a year of experimentation he had ultimately discovered something that would rock the world! (Or at least the U.S.). He demanded that he be re-diagnosed against the doctors will, best judgment, and direction.

Astonished, the doctors were astounded. It took hours for the doctors to consult other physicians and to finally reach a conclusion that had went counter to the established notion of medical science. Insulin levels were normal, and high glucose levels were non existent. This patient was absent of Diabetes Mellitus.

The treatment he received was all natural, inexpensive, painless, and worked like a miracle! He was so excited that he can share with his doctors about the treatment that cured his diabetes. Certainly these men and women would want to know about an all-natural medical treatment that could cure the incurable!

To his amazement they refused to believe that he had been properly diagnosed, much less that at hand was a true and natural cure for diabetes.

At this moment I would like to thank FTC, FDA, Pharmaceutical companies, etc. For their personal attacks on citizens with this information. They have aided the corruption of the power structures and misled health professionals into the needless anguish of millions of innocent people by suppressing this kind of information.

With that said.

What would you say if I told you that there are 2 natural cures for diabetes that are so simple a caveman can do it?

Believe it or not, diabetes can be cured naturally by only two things.

1.) Diet

2.) Exercise

It’s so easy that no one wants to believe it! It’s like trying to assure someone that the world is round, since they just simply don’t want to put forth the effort to banish their problems, and would rather just take a pill.

In that sense, medical science is your best bet. It’s completely true that there are no pills in existence yet that could reverse the effects of diabetes; but its also true that by making major changes in your habits you can reverse almost ANY disease.

Diet

The foods that you put into your mouth, evidently, can be the single biggest factor in not only controlling your diabetes, but also reversing it as well. Over the last few decades diabetes has taken refuge in more and more households in the United States and is increasingly becoming a larger problem. There is a direct correlation involving diet and disease that most medical professionals refuse to acknowledge for one simple reason:

There is no money in the cure!

Unfortunately, our doctors are merely trained to do two things.

1.) Treat Symptoms/Write Prescriptions

2.) Perform Surgery

We humans have only been eating processed, garbage, chemically altered, lab produced, foods for the past 100 or so years. Our bodies are not made to deal with this unexpected change in diet (as a species), and when the body becomes malnourished like this - it starts to break down.

Exercise

A wise man once said, “We are made for action, and activity is the sovereign remedy for all physical ills.” - Frederick the Great of Prussia

It couldn’t be more accurate. Our bodies are the only machines on the face of this earth that break down, get worn out, and simply start deteriorating through the lack of exercise. This is especially true for aiding in the cure of diabetes. Exercise not only lowers your blood sugar levels, but it also lowers your chance of heart disease - which is common for people who have been unfortunate enough to develop diabetes.

It’s imperative to note that this article in no way is a substitute for any workout program, or medical journal. You must always talk to your doctor and a fitness expert on the best way to benefit from your workouts.

You should always be keeping track of your blood sugar levels ahead of, during, and after exercising to prevent the possibility of Hypoglycemia.

It is simply amazing what the human body is capable of, solely by consuming the foods that God intended. It is very vital that we arm ourselves in not only the fight against diabetes, but also the fight against all diseases in general.

Maqui Berry Helps Boost Metabolism

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

The Maqui berry is a fruit located in the Patagonia region near Chile. The Maqui berry is dubbed as the world’s strongest super fruit because of the amount of antioxidants in it. The Maqui berry contains an antioxidant level of 2500 per gram of it in powder format.

Currently, the most popular berry in the world is the Acai. The Acai is found primarily in Brazil. The Acai went from being known by very few to the entire world when Oprah did a show about it.

After Oprah made the Acai berry incredibly popular, there have been hundreds of products coming out that contain the powerful berry. You can find the berry in capsule, pill, and juice format all around the internet. In some states, you can even find it at your local stores.

The reason the Acai became so popular when Oprah mentioned it was because the berry has a lot of antioxidants in it. The same reason the Maqui berry will soon be the world’s most popular berry.

The Maqui berry is often being compared to the more popular acai berry. The two however, do not compare at all. The Maqui just destroys the competition when they are compared side by side.

The Maqui berry is only missing one thing when it is compared to Acai. The Acai contains the Omega 3 fatty acid which can be good for your health. However, since the Maqui berry contains so many more antioxidants it truly isn’t even an honest fight.

The Maqui Berry will soon be a word you will be hearing a lot every day. The reason is because it is widely available and it is very cheap to grow. The final reason is because it is so incredibly powerful to your health that nothing compares to it.

If you act fast, you can be ahead of the crowd and get your own maqui berry supplements for incredible cheap since it is not in super demand yet. You can expect Maqui prices to double in a few months, so act fast!

The Benefits Of Cooking With Mediterranean Food Seasoning

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

As in any type of cooking in Mediterranean cuisine people use seasoning, Mediterranean seasoning actually. Mediterranean cuisine is the food of the areas around the Mediterranean Sea, obviously. The fact is that the Mediterranean cuisine contains foods from varied cultures. Given the geography of the Mediterranean, these nation-states have influenced each other in time and the cooking process evolved into sharing common rules. Flexibility and a broad range of ingredients and many regional varitions characterised the Mediterranean cuisine. The area inclined to favor goats and sheep rearing.

Although presently much of the fish is shipped from the outside since the fisheries of the Mediterranean sea are no longer what they used to be, fish dishes are still very common. In many of the standard Mediterranean dish recipes, seafood is still dominant. It is quite clear that certain kinds of fruits and meats or vegetables, which is the case in Mediterranean cuisine, demand for specific and typical seasoning, and in this case Mediterranean seasoning. Pita bread, barbecue or grilled meats, falafel and hummus are among the Mediterranean foods which usually demand a special seasonings which are found in the area around Mediterranean seasoning evidently.

Garlic is a representation of a vital ingredient in the Mediterranean seasoning, which is employed a lot throughout in the Mediterranean cuisine. Do You Know Why We Tend to Bruise More Easily as We Age?

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Do you remember when you could study all day and hang out with your friends until the next morning? How about pulling all-nighters, and still being ready to head out for some fun on the weekends? When we are young, our bodies recover much more quickly from the damage that we do it, and one thing that you might have been noticing is that you are now seeing a lot more bruising. The truth is that we are subject to bruising more as we get older, and when those bruises do appear, they are no longer going away quite as fast.

The first reason why we may be bruising more as we age is that we have lost a portion of our fat layer that lies just below our skin. This causes the skin to have a rather papery appearance to it, and it is no longer as protective if we fall or bump into something. In the same vein, we find that the tissues supporting our blood vessels is getting a lot weaker, which makes them considerably more prone to incidental damage. As we grow older, the blood vessels themselves have become more frail, and we should be aware of that situation. When the blood vessels beneath our skin break because of blunt trauma, blood will pool below the skin, which causes the bruise formation.

When you are examining the process of why you might bruise more as you age, remember that there can often be other factors involved as well. Having spent a great deal of time in the sun might be a contributing factor, as will use of things like blood thinners, whether in the form of over the counter aspirin or corticosteroid drugs. Some people will also find that dietary supplements like vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, garlic, and ginseng can make them more prone to easy bruising.

Additionally, remember that bruising might be an indication of some of the more serious problems that can take place as we age. If you are truly concerned that you are bruising without any reason, you should explore the situation with your doctor. Your doctor may decide to have you screened for illnesses that run the gamut from diabetes to blood related diseases. If you become aware of more bruising after you begin a new medication or a new supplement, you should also bring this up to your doctor as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that it doesn’t matter why it is occurring, bruising is your body’s providing evidence that some form of damage has taken place, and this is a situation that you should not overlook.

Stay aware of your bruises. When and where do they occur? Are the bruises sore, and how long does it take for them to heal? What type of medications are you using to help alleviate the bruising, and what else is there for you to do to take care of them? Bruises might well be a problem, but it is a situation that can definitely be overcome with the correct approach.

The Importance of Omega 3 during Pregnancy and Nursing

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

The EU (European Union) recently recommended pregnant and nursing women take daily omega 3 DHA fatty acid supplements.

The EU committee of more than 50 nutritional experts from the Perinatal Lipid Nutrition Group (PeriLip) and Early Nutrition Programming (EARNEST) unanimously agreed pregnant and nursing mothers should supplement their diets with 200 mgs/day of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) - a long chain omega 3 fatty acid found primarily in fatty fish such as salmon, sardines and tongol tuna/

The committee, with the support of seven international scientific organizations, made its recommendation based on two major points:

One - The committee revealed that pregnant and nursing women in western cultures don’t eat sufficient amounts of fatty fish; it is generally recommended that we consume two servings omega 3 DHA for a healthy pregnancy. The committee also discovered the average DHA intake of pregnant and lactating women in the U.S was less than 18 % of the recommended daily amount and only 2 % of these women meet their daily needs of DHA. Since your baby gets its nutrition from its mother, if the mother is not getting enough of the fish oil then is the developing baby in the womb or the nursing baby is not getting enough either.

Two - Studies also uncovered that pregnant women who ingested the recommended daily dosage of omega 3 DHA have much healthier pregnancies as well as deliver babies that are full term and have higher birth weight then mothers who did not take the recommended daily dosage. In addition, additional studies revealed that the benefits of the omega 3 DHA extend beyond birth as well. When babies received the recommended amount of omega 3 fish oil, especially DHA before birth have optimal brain and eye development and motor, thinking and language skills. In addition, the study revealed a decrease risk of developing problems later on such as asthma, juvenile diabetes and ADD/ADHD.

Professor Berthold Koletxco, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Munich, stated, “We reviewed a wealth of evidence on the benefits of DHA omega 3 and hope our findings will offer guidance for healthcare professionals on the optimum DHA omega 3 intake during pregnancy and nursing.”

In addition, professor Koletzco also shared, “We also hope that new and expectant mothers will be able to use this specific information to ensure that they are getting enough DHA omega 3 to gain the nutritional benefits throughout their pregnancy and during nursing.”

EU recommends getting the majority of your omega 3 fish oil from sources like salmon, sardines, herring, mackerel and tuna as they have the richest sources of omega 3 fatty acids. It is also important to note that there are no negative side effects to consuming more than the recommended amount of 3 fish oil is 200 mgs/day of omega 3 DHA.

As far as fish toxicity is concerned, most experts agree that as long as pregnant and nursing women (and everyone else as well) avoid eating large predator fish such as shark and swordfish, two or three servings a week of one of the above fatty fish is perfectly safe. In fact, a recent Harvard University School of Public Health study concluded that fish oil health benefits far outweigh any threat of toxicity by as much as 500 to one. In other words, toxicity is not a threat.

So if you’re pregnant, nursing or even just thinking about it and want to have a smart, healthy baby, start eating more fatty fish and taking omega 3 fish oil supplements ASAP. Your baby will be glad you did.
