Dreaming Of Falling Down

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

One of most common, yet one of the most feared dream experiences is a dream of falling or nearly falling in a dream. The dream experience can be as simple as falling out of your bed or as extreme as falling off of a rooftop, building, ladder, cliff, mountain, or out of an airplane without a parachute, to name just a few.

Regardless of how high the dreamer falls from in the dream, the dream experience is generally extremely terrifying because of the dreamer’s complete lost of control in the dream experience, which is often accompanied by the fear or possibility of dying or getting hurt in the dream. As a result, the dreamer often wakes up afraid, hyperventilating, filled with anxiety, sweating, struggling for breath, with their heart pounding as if their heart is about to explode right out of their chest.

Common Causes Of Falling Dreams

Although there are hundreds of reasons why a person experiences dreams of falling, the most common are: guilt, fear of a situation, problem, crisis or dilemma the dreamer is experiencing in the natural when they have little or no control over or answers for. As a consequence, the individual often experiences feelings of helplessness physically, and emotionally both in the natural and in their dream states, thus opening the door to experiencing a falling dream or a dream of almost falling down.

The depth and emotional stress caused by the falling dream as a rule is determined by the severity of the fear, guilt, situation, problem, crisis or dilemma the dreamer is experiencing in the natural in their awake state.

Although Falling Dreams can result as the result of a loss of power, fear, guilt or loss of control, there are is yet another aspect that often plays into the psyche of the dreamer and the dream equation, and that is self punishment. Because self guilt is a part of man’s DNA, when the dreamer loses or is losing his power over a situation, guilt sets in and the dreamer subconsciously tries to punish himself in their dream state because he blames himself feeling that he is responsible for a problem and deserves to be experiencing punishment for events occurring in his life.

Other Causes Of Falling Dreams

A rebellious attitude, fear, doubt, confusion, betrayal, deception, indecision and blindness to a truth make for propelling forces that have people falling in dreams. There also can be insecurity in a marriage, relationship, family member(s), career, workplace and finances.

In some Falling Dreams, this type of dream can result because of an inferiority or inadequacy the dreamer has or feels he has in regards to the dreamer’s marriage, relationships, career, workplace that is causing the dreamer to feel he cannot measure up to the challenge before him that is demanding some action to be taken on his part.

Based on the dreamer’s circumstances, for the dreamer to dream he is falling can also represents shame, sorrow, lack of confidence, or pride in himself in regards to the dreamer’s life and accomplishments And because of these haunting feelings, the dreamer feels he is looked down on or not always included.

To the Christian, falling most often represents and is symbolic of sin or a demonic attack on their finances, career, workplace or a family member through others.
