6 Ways To Control Your Food Cravings

Do you have food cravings?

How many times have your cravings sabotaged your dieting successes?

Often we have great intentions and make the choices to eat healthy and regularly exercise in order to really lose weight. But then we get stressed about something, or maybe we smell the cookies baking or perhaps come across someone digging into a bag of chips. At that very moment, we lose all resolve, our willpower disappears, and our craving wins.

Satisfying the craving often fills us with guilt or even self hatred. We feel like a failure because once again we have let the craving be in control. This lowers our self-esteem and we enter a cycle of not feeling good about ourselves and satisfying our craving because it provides comfort.

Following are a few suggestions you might try to help control your cravings.

1. Keep the food you carve OUT of the house. No matter how much your family complains, tell them that you need their support for this. Get them on your team.

2. When you get a really bad craving, STOP and first drink a glass of water. Then, set the timer if you have to, but wait 15 minutes before you give in to your craving. Chances are it will have passed.

3. If you are at a grazing table, graze at the vegetable/fruit end. But, instead of grazing, put the food on your plate and then move AWAY from the table. Find someone really interesting to talk with. And yes, keep a glass of water with you.

4. If you see someone else enjoying what you really crave, do an about face and head for the glass of water again. Water is very satisfying to the body and more times then not will keep your cravings at bay.

So what is the connection between cravings and weight loss? I believe that we can all do quite well on a healthy choice of foods if we do not have our cravings flare up. What if you didn’t have any cravings? You wouldn’t be eating that bag of chips or that bowl of Kisses or that extra helping of pasta. If those cravings could be removed, I truly believe that your weight loss will become much simpler.

Here are two alternatives to overcoming your cravings:

1. Through the use of Hypnotherapy, you can figure out your emotional reasons for eating. Once that is done, your conscious mind can make better decisions and learn to control your cravings.

2. Another method is Emotional Freedom Technique. This is also called Tapping. Tapping helps the negative energy in your body change to positive energy. At this point, your cravings dissipate and your reaction to this food you crave is neutralized.

Cravings are hard for most people. When you are craving something, you lose control of the situation. Don’t let that happen. At least grab a glass of water. Make yourself drink the whole thing before you give in. You will find that this is the beginning of being in control

Then maybe you will check out the alternative options above. They can show you how to be successful!
